We are affiliated with the (STA) Swimming Teachers’ Association, an international award-winning charity working towards the objective of preserving human life by the teaching of swimming, lifesaving and survival techniques. All members for the team are DBS checked and have various teaching/ lifesaving qualifications. We have regular training and CPD sessions, and we take part in events such as national drowning prevention week.
I have been a triathlon coach and swim teacher for over 20 years. Over the years working as a coach and sports scientist I have worked with junior elite development squads, worked for Water Babies as a swim instructor before joining the team at Sedbergh Swimming Club. I have loved being part of this community driven club and I’m so proud of the dedication of the team.
Pool swims at Sedbergh help me to relax and keep me physically and mentally in good health. I also enjoy swimming outdoors feeling the smooth glide of cool water from local rivers and lakes. Swimming is also a great way to meet swim buddies and supportive friends.
I have been involved in the club for over 10 years and have a variety of roles including lifeguard secretary, lifeguard and teacher. I love to see our younger swimmer progress.
I co-ordinate and promote the annual programme of continuing professional development for the Club's swimming teachers, lifeguards and volunteers. Developing in-house learning is important and ensures our staff are up to date with training and development. I also assist with the induction of new staff.
Swimming has always been a major part of my life - & I first qualified as a Lifeguard in 1974!! I especially enjoy Scuba Diving. Learning to swim early has given me so much confidence in the water - it feels like a natural environment for me.
I am a swimming teacher and teach people of all ages and abilities to develop swimming skills, technique and confidence in the water. I love teaching the little ones, I also lifeguard and have responsibility for safeguarding for the club.
ASA level 1 swimming teacher, I have taught at Sedbergh Swimming Club for 16 years.
Although I have decided not to teach any longer I will still be lifeguarding the sessions as a life saver qualified with RLSS’s Emergency Response Swimming Pool award.
I also love to swim, mountain and road bike.
I have enjoyed swimming since a very young age both in the pool at Sedbergh and in the outdoors. I enjoy taking part in triathlons and swimming events across the county and qualified as a swimming teacher in 2016. I love teaching the local kids to swim and hope they too will develop a love of the water.
Swimming is one of my favourite things in life. Whether it's in the sea, a lake, river, or the local pool it always makes me feel more alive!
I have always loved swimming and from a young age swam for Poole Swimming Club and Dorset county. I want to pass on to the children the fun and freedom of being able to swim and to be confident in water.
I am Rachel, I have been part of Sedbergh Swimming club since I was 11. I took on my first role in my teenage years through been a helper and then have being supported to do my life guarding qualifications and ASA level 1 in aquatics. I am very happy to be teaching in 2021!. Swimming is such an important life skill and I love seeing the children grow in water confidence and skills.
