All members for the team are DBS checked and have various teaching/ lifesaving qualifications. We have regular training and CPD sessions, and we take part in events such as national drowning prevention week.
I have always loved swimming and from a young age swam for Poole Swimming Club and Dorset county. I want to pass on to the children the fun and freedom of being able to swim and to be confident in water.
I have taught swimming on and off since 1995 in Dubai, Australia and the UK, between having 4 children and also delivering athletics & cycling.
I enjoy helping people learn to swim and improving their swimming skills.
Pool swims at Sedbergh help me to relax and keep me physically and mentally in good health. I also enjoy swimming outdoors feeling the smooth glide of cool water from local rivers and lakes. Swimming is also a great way to meet swim buddies and supportive friends.
I have been involved with Sedbergh Swimming club for over 10 years and have a variety of roles including chair, lifeguard secretary, lifeguard and teacher. I love to see our swimmers progress.
I have enjoyed swimming since a very young age both in the pool at Sedbergh and in the outdoors. I enjoy taking part in triathlons and swimming events across the county and qualified as a swimming teacher in 2016. I love teaching the local kids to swim and hope they too will develop a love of the water.
Swimming has always been a major part of my life - & I first qualified as a Lifeguard in 1974!! I especially enjoy Scuba Diving. Learning to swim early has given me so much confidence in the water - it feels like a natural environment for me
I co-ordinate and promote the annual programme of continuing professional development for the Club's swimming teachers, lifeguards and volunteers. Developing in-house learning is important and ensures our staff are up to date with training and development. I also assist with the induction of new staff.
I am a swimming teacher and teach people of all ages and abilities to develop swimming skills, technique and confidence in the water. I love teaching the little ones, I also lifeguard and have responsibility for safeguarding for the club.
I will be lifeguarding the sessions as a life saver qualified with RLSS’s Emergency Response Swimming Pool award.
I also love to swim, mountain and road bike.
I have been involved with the club for over 9 years and enjoy my role as lifeguard. I also provide CPD in first Aid to the other members of the team on a regular basis.
All three of my children have been taught to swim by the swimming club, as was I . I really enjoy giving a little back through my role. I enjoy swimming, listening to music and spending time with my family.
I have a lifetime love of swimming. I enjoy teaching at the club, creating a positive and fun environment in which to motivate and encourage children and adults to swim.
I have been a swimming teacher for over 30 years. I have worked in schools and the leisure industry spending time teaching swimming from toddlers to pensioners.
I learnt how to swim at Sedbergh Swimming Club as a child. I relearnt my technique through the club again as a source of fitness and fell in love with it all over again. So much so that I have trained to teach swimming
